Stacy Lindau, MD

Co-founder & Chief Innovation Officer

Dr. Lindau has dedicated her career to patient care, research, education and social innovation. For nearly 25 years, Dr. Lindau, also a professor of ob/gyn and medicine-geriatrics at the University of Chicago, has led community-engaged research and innovation funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and others.

As co-founder and CIO of STEAMe, Dr. Lindau champions the power of person- and community-centered information technology to enable human flourishing through meaningful work. STEAMe’s work is informed and inspired by Dr. Lindau’s community-engaged research at the University of Chicago, including employing, training and mentoring Chicago youth in information technology and data-focused work.

Before STEAMe, she founded MAPSCorps and NowPow. MAPSCorps — a nonprofit organization now operated by STEAMe co-founder Nichole Pinkard, PhD, a Northwestern University professor of education and social policy — trains and employs young people to use scientific method and information technology to gather, map and share high-quality data about community assets for health and economic vitality. NowPow, headquartered on Chicago’s South Side where the idea was created, established multi-sided digital infrastructure to connect people to vital community resources and created high-quality, livable wage jobs.

Dr. Lindau earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education and political science at the University of Michigan Honors College, her medical degree from Brown University and a masters degree in public policy at the University of Chicago Harris School. She completed her OB-GYN residency at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. She was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar and is an Aspen Institute Health Innovators Fellow. In 2024, Forbes recognized Dr. Lindau on its 50 Over 50 Innovators list. She is also a proud Chicago Moth Story Slam winner.
